Ching Ch'ing, a Chinese Ch'an master, asked a monk:
-What is the sound outside?
The monk answered:
-That is the sound of rain.
The master said:
-Sentient beings are upside down, they lose themselves in pursuit of things.
Emptiness is just another way of looking at infinite space. Our monkey mind traps us in a shrinking ball of our worldly endeavors. Tighter and tighter, smaller and smaller till any reasonable view is gone and we lose all wisdom. Meditation is about a release of the ball’s tension. It is about finding the never ending space between our commitments and sufferings: knowing all is relative. Buddhism is about now, not about pie in the sky by and by. MU
