master after another. He called upon Dokuon of Shokoku.

Desiring to show his attainment, he said: "The mind,
Buddha, and sentient beings, after all, do not exist.

Spiritual violence:

I heard a new term as it relates to the shooting at Virginia Tech. The term was Spiritual Violence. What do you think this means? MU

vertical line Another psychobabble term. An oxymoron. Maybe Religious Violence makes more sense.

A Shrink at Yale said that not only did this gun man's actions relate to physical violence and emotional violence but represented spiritual violence.

The more I reflect on it the more I think it is garbage verbiage. MU

vertical line Shrinks talk a lot of nonsense. The killer perpetrated physical violence. Even if he experienced religious delusional thinking, it is presumptuous to label the violence as "emotional" and "spiritual".

vertical line If we would agree that everything is spiritual, it would be redundant to label it so.

True. And then there is the question of what is the meaning of spiritual to individuals.

.......In regards to this discussion, that is the only pertinent question, yes? It would be impossible to reach a consensus, since the meaning of spiritual relies completely on an individual's interpretation.

You are a spiritual being, I am a spiritual being. But odds are we differ in both belief and practice. When we attempt to label practice, it becomes religion. That's when things become constrained.

It seems nonsensical to me also. My impression is that the psychologist said it for emotional impact which, ironically, constitutes what could be seen as a non-spiritual practice (spiritual violence?) hehe.
