Not long ago... just after a heavy Spring downpour... I was parking my car. I noticed that the asphalt was covered with hundreds of earthworms. As I zig/zaged my way to my destination, I had a realization. Not an Earthshaking or awakening moment, but none the less, a realization. Before I had taken precepts... I would have chosen the most direct route. Squish... squish... squish... stepping on countless sentient beings on my destination. I then had a vission of when I would rip one in half, put it on a hook, as it was writhing and twisting itself on the hook I would cast it into the lake. When I retrived the line, there would be a fish... Gasping... the hook lodged deeply in it's gut. I would rip the hook out of the fish and throw it back into the water. Put on another worm, cast it into the lake again. A small amount of time would go by... the fish would be floating dead on top of the surface.
I am no longer a fisherman... :-)
