Has anyone read any books by Fr Robert E. Kennedy or any other Jesuit zen masters? And if so, what are your opinions on them? Any recommendations?
I'm not a catholic but I've always admired the way that the Jesuits have usually been on the forefront of all things progressive/heretical.

Kennedy's Christianity is in the tradition of Ignatius of Loyola, Gerard Hughes, Anthony de Mello, the Cistercians (eg Thomas Merton, Laurence Freeman, Thomas Keating, John Main et al) and Meister Eckhart (to name but a few) - an emptying out of the self in order not just to imitate Christ but to realise Christ consciousness, the kingdom of heaven now. |

oops I'm back. Realising one's true nature, Christ consciousness, Buddha nature, union with God, oneness - (any other descriptions to compare it with?) - mathematically and scientifically speaking, involves subtraction and not addition. In a mindful and awareness, awareness, awareness way, so to speak. So I say, anyway. |

There's volumes written about it... it would bore the ass from under a saint.
Did Buddha practice self loathing? Is that what Bodhidharma brought out of the West? If so he should have stayed looking at a wall between bouts of Jakie Chan-on-bad guy action.
Our selves will be scattered to the wind rather unceremoniously before too long. What a shame if we spend our little bit of time wrestling with what we are.
