If Chon'Tri sees anything as 'good' or 'bad', then he lacks the true dahrma eye.
Has the old man any poison, or has he already begun chanting nembutsu? |

How could he do so otherwise? With this so-called 'Zen' that discriminates good from bad?

Lynnoh:
Only by discriminating nothing, can one know any-thing. In the marrow of Zen, one sees nothing as good or bad.
Still, don't confuse the absence of discrimination for the absence of distinction (see: "When moutains were mountains and streams were streams...").
I'd give you my understanding, if I could, but apparently you'd have already had me give it to Chon'Tri...Haha!!
"Huh?"... why'd you stop, you were almost there ;)

"Nothing" is a thing. Or did you mean no thing or no-thing? Any-thing just will not do - please be precise. Distinction / discrimination...where does discernment fit in to this schemata? Apparently?
Whooo...the marrow of Zen? wtf is that? Exactly? (So many questions - please answer them all, now, in my absence). |

Discernment is just a perception.
One shouldn't start climbing from the top of the mountain. Perhaps we could just take a short walk, to stretch our legs?
Am I only confusing you?...Splendid!
The answers are already here, just follow each question to its root.
It'll probably take you a little longer than the questions though ;) . |

Even to perceive is to judge. Who's perception will you use?
Ultimate reality is in knowing, not in perceiving, or even in simply believing.
The thoughts that bring us to zen, are the hardest to let go.
...well there you go, I've killed it altogether.

Pay attention at the back. Now, hands up, all those who know that zen is not an experience. Who knows? Come on. Let me see those hands. |

More like the ogre held the door stead-fast all night.
Can one ever resolve the doubt in another's mind? A 'good horse may run even in the shadow of the whip', but it's still the horse that does the running.
'zen is not an experience'? zen is everything, not an anything. And experience can indeed be zen. A subtle, but important distinction ;)
