How painful is it? To wake up? To admit that I don't want to wake up; I am quite happy thanks, in my warm snuggle-down comfort. Then to realise it's really not so comfortable because I'm waking up. Isn't it wonderful - to be liberated from the prison of vanity?

To wake up into another dream shouldn't be too painful. Dreaming 'prison' and dreaming 'liberation' are much the same if both seem contradictory.
Your 'prison' never existed as a 'prison' other than in your own perceptions, neither will your liberation exist outside your perceptions as anything other than a, possibly preferable seeming, prison.
The prison was, is and always be your liberation along with every other Dharma/ universal phenomena.

Teacher says, "Hi Johnny."
"Hi."
"What do you have in your hand?"
"This is a lump of cow dung."

Teacher summons Headteacher.

The school psychologist is a clever guy.

"You're making a psychologist."
