TOPIC: LIGHT |
|
|
 |
Posted on Jul.18.2007 @ 08:31AM EDT by ______
I'm standing in a field, surrounded by cows. They are pressed in close and tight. It's twilight, dusk. The ground slopes downward, away from me into a natural amphitheatre where lights are shining up from holes in the ground. I can hear the sound of tails swishing, breaths breathing, tongues rasping and that satisfying munch sound of the cud being chewed. I see a glint of a patient eye here, an eyelash there. It's cold and breath steams in the air as one mist, hovering in a cloud over the group. Suddenly, I am aware that I am a figure in a painting. If I turn around, I believe I will see the giant hand of a painter with brush poised to alter the scene. But I don't turn around. It begins to rain, that slow, soft silent thin rain which works with the light to bleed the land, the cows, the mist, the breaths, one into each other. The watercolourist is adding more water to the wash as I am smudged in and the tears flow.

I called through your door, "The mystics are gathering in the street. Come out!"
"Leave me alone. I'm sick."
"I don't care if you're dead! Jesus is here, and he wants to resurrect somebody!"

Light is invisible.
Please don't mistake this for the metaphysical shite that distracts everyone around here, the stuff is actually invisible to us... not the most uninteresting thing that was ever said here, not exactly satori-in-a-sachet either. Who promised rose gardens?

Harry. |

Shite is visible (most of the time) yet people often step in it. Good argument for mindflness that... not the best argment, but certainly not one that is solely faith based.

The use of a single word to mean two different things is neglect.
The beauty in the picture of a truth reveals a dichotomy between what we 'actually see' and what we 'know we see'.

Very not bad. Like our words are connected to the way we feel - being the poet in prose but not necessarily speech - so that what we create is true. |

Truth/truth/lies, selfishness/anti-selfishness/selflessness... all these contests allowed to settle naturally might reveal something interesting.
A holy man just informed us that when he prays to God he gives himself up to something greater... gives up all of himself; his ideals and all that.

Harry. |

Cleaning paths today. Yeah, literally. Paths covered in chicken muck and chicken-scraped soil. I'd almost forgotten what they looked like and where they lead - some of them have been lost to human view for months - the paths that time forgot. Now I can walk on 'em in clean feet. |

Yesterday, Foot & Mouth Disease is confirmed on a uk farm. Nobody knows how the cows became infected and a 3km protection/exclusion zone is in place around the farm. All animal movements in uk are banned. Will memories of 2001 stop the cruelty and the pyres from happening again? |

Memories intrigue - I might think I have forgotten something and not even recognise the catalyst only the realisatin that I can't forget memories because then they wouldn't be memories. Memory and event, thought and feeling, and all sense, I save involuntarily and without burden. That's how I learn - even unlearning is learning. |

Memories of the garden and the state of recollection, not one and the same thing - there is a 'level' beyond the mind and conscious memory where memory is voided. If memory is the root of self-identity, then that is where the contemplative action of God strikes in self-forgetfulness. |
