In a fragmented universe, music may be just another shard to give us a pain in our sensitive little bums, but its actually quite nice. I mean what magic there is in it, even to a cynic like me. Science is magic in an unfragmented universe as well... as are thoughts, flowers, donkies, and this funny little room I'm in, everything... depending on how you look at it.

Buddhism and other religions have their answers to the Taliban; where they say that music is a 'worldly' distraction to be 'renounced'. What a crock... horror stories to make unruly children behave and to scare cowards and idiots.

Here's some reading re. music/listening/Buddhist practice from a shakuhachi flute player; although he is versed/practiced in the Vipassina side of things he is familiar with Zen attitudes through his practice of the Shakuhachi of Japan.

Regards,

Harry.

Don't worry, I donated more than they asked. So that can be from both of us.
