Hi I'm new to Zen Buddhism and look forward to my journey ahead. This question may seem ignorant if not irrelevant. However, I wanted to buy a wrist mala (and then buy 108 bead mala later) to cite my mantras and I was wondering how might I go about picking out a material and the mantras to go with that specific material?

vertical line It's a personal taste thing. If that's what you want there are plenty of websites you can visit that sell mala, prayer beads, rosaries. Or you could make a set from raw materials.

I like to self-flaggelate with barbed wire.

(Just kidding, I never did think that beating oneself

was a good idea, when there are so many who are

willing to do it for you.)
