After reading this chapter I am somewhat confused about it.  The whole chapter sounds to me like a lesson in how to stroke ones ego.  "stand upon a mountain top to look down on the people who are not earnest, and then #27 Follow not after vanity, (i can and do agree with that) nor after the enjoyment of love( I thought that is what we are suppose to do, love our neighbor?)and lust ( ok, I understand that)!  He who is earnest and meditates obtains ample joy.  How can you obtain joy with out love?

Please clarify for me, as I am an earnest beleiver, and student, and do not wish to develop a superiority complex over the everday person who does not follow the way to enlightenment.
