TOPIC: INTRODUCTION =] |
|
|
 |
Posted on Jan.22.2008 @ 02:18AM EDT by Haydos
hey everyone =]
ive been looking at this site for quite some time now and ive been interested in Zen for quite sometime now since one of my old school teachers was Buddhist and he took time to show us meditation and to follow the eightfold path which i try to do as often as i can
and i was just wondering if you would accept me into your community and teach me more about your way of life =]
thanks in advance

Hi, and welcome. You were already accepted since you got your user-name. There is no community here, only few knuckleheads posting. No teaching here. |

and i figure i may as well unlearn something instead of sitting around not doing anything and having my mind at a standstill |

I there Haydos, learn about my way of life?... Hmmm...Sure, just missed a deadline for airing my resent project on the national tv with two hours. My client off course hate me now and wonder where the hell his finished animation is. I have been working on a routine of 1-3 hours sleep/ 1-3 hour work or something. (Leonardo supposedly ran a similare procedure, but he must have been phcycotic I guess:/) Have not gotten around to open mail for the last two weeks, and my taxes and finances in general is just untangiable chaos for the time being. Important to take breaks when working around the clock so the brain doesn`t mess up. Guess I should have put in some zazzen, but have rather rested and let time saving ideas materialize before pushing on. My current nightmare ends in just a few hours time, just finishing up some post production, and I have learned to appriciate something as simple as doing nothing:) God I miss a good nights sleep. zzz zzz zzz mmmmmhhhh.. Huh? Oh, and welcome to the forum, fresh meat is always appreciated!;) |

How do you do,I am Zoz...new here also...so howdy to everyone.I appolagize for not introducing myself properly before to all...as this gentleman did. I am Taoist, and will pass on this wisdom to you witch might pertain to your wishes, and it might not. It's all in the perspective of the listener.
'Without taking a step outdoors You know the whole world; Without taking a peep out the window You know the colour of the sky.
The more you experience, The less you know. The sage wanders without knowing, Sees without looking, Accomplishes without acting."
The Tao

Correction-I am Taoist, and will pass on this wisdom to you witch might pertain to "Haydos" wishes, and it might not. It's all in the perspective of the listener.
I did'nt mean to insinuate I could pass on any wisdom to everyone,,,it was unintentional, but after seeing that messeges here don't reflect a direct reply to the post clicked on,I thought I had better clear up any missunderstandings that might be generated. Thankyou. "Z" |

"is a sage separate from tao"?
nothing is seperate from Tao.= Tao is all,all is Tao.Nothing more nothing less. What is an "ordinary person"? And would'nt that be be a whole nother discussion...LOL I think you are getting way off subject matter here,by asking such an abstract question as "What makes an ordinary person be a non-sage, once this person is not separate from tao"? If you need answers beyond the info I was forwarding to Mr.Haydos here, perhaps you should read the Tao,and ask yourself these extremely abstract questions. :) Thankyou, Peace and Best reguards to you all |

Oh. Questions seem very simple to me. You mentioned the Tao and a sage and added that nothing is separate from Tao.
I asked about a person who is not a sage, calling it an ordinary person. I asked for the difference between such a person and a sage, since none of them are separate from Tao.
I would like to hear your own experience. You don't need to answer. It doesn't really matter. |

Yes,most questions are simple enough, from most people. I sense you are not "most" people. If you will please refer back to my original post, you will see at the bottom "The Tao". This excerpt was taken directly from the Tao Te Ching. So,then please study the Tao Te Ching text, and then you might have the answer you look for. If as you said you would like to hear from "my own experiance", your question is something I would meditate on,for a period of time.Because,to me it is very,,,"deep".I appolagize if you took offense to me saying it was an abstract question. I think you are a very knowlagable person, and would like to trade intelect,,, yes? If so then we could email each other to discuss further, in a more appprprite forum. Everything matters, friend.Thankyou for your genuine interest.

what on earth is tao?
On the welcome page of Zenguide, you will see in the whats new section the complete Tao Te Ching.
Tao and Zen-Buddhism share common bonds. To go into the history behind that would take more space and time allowed here. I'm pretty sure you can research the history between the two right here on the ZG. I have in the past studdied Zen-Buddhism,Muslumism,The Tao,and Christanity, just to mention the main religious philosophies...and many sub-religions. I am most attuned to the Tao,because it befits my own beliefs. Its simple, like me. :) |

what on earth is Tao?
The continuity of Tao
"Looked at but cannot be seen - it is beneath form; Listened to but cannot be heard - it is beneath sound; Held but cannot be touched - it is beneath feeling; These depthless things evade definition, And blend into a single mystery.
In its rising there is no light, In its falling there is no darkness, A continuous thread beyond description, Lining what can not occur; Its form formless, Its image nothing, Its name silence; Follow it, it has no back, Meet it, it has no face.
Attend the present to deal with the past; Thus you grasp the continuity of the Way, Which is its essence."
