Wouldn't that depend on how it's caught?
Take water, for instance, (and assuming that 'life' is as fluid as water) if caught in a basin or cup, it stops flowing. If caught in your hands, at least part of that fluid will flow through your fingers, would it not?

all of these clever analogies are nice, but it does not really help you does it?
I could say life is like a dodo flying through the sugarcane forest and we could all try to find some deeper meaning in it but it does not help us any. can't we just keep the deeper meaning and wisdom with out wasting all this time and energy on analogies?

Frankly, the visualization of a dodo flying through a sugarcane forest is quite humorous.
I'm not trying to find any hidden meaning or anything, I just think that is, quite possibly, one of the funniest things I've read in quite a long time.
I thank you for that image.
I find humor to be meaningful and helpful. It helps me to, at least momentarily, subdue the negative emotions and thoughts that usually run rampant in my mind.
While I know the intent of your post wasn't meant to be funny, I thank you nonetheless.
