You will never be free from thoughts because life and thought are not separate. |

No self; no mind; no no-mind (conceptual). And yet in (zen) and other methods of meditation you are using the mind to free yourself from the mind and stop thought: mind is what you are doing to free yourself from the mind and thought. |

The mind is in "work mode" again today, no thoughts of words as priest, as lords, only the subtle awareness of interpretation working around the rough edges, and opening to the gift of reaching back, reaching in to find Self identity as interbeing in all. |

The dogs know the routine, I go 13 miles on the bike in back and then walk them outside to warm down. Water is streaming off the roof's snow melt. A smile comes back to my face, as the dogs check in, that waiting open-eyed gaze. A shadow sweeps across the sunny white field, out across the pines changing the value of color green.
I arise

13.1 miles, and a 2# water loss.
I come out to the front room, and lecture the 2 dogs on the denial of death.
They know the routine.
I cool down, and drink up.
sit still, breathe
heart rate slows back again, into the 50's
like my age

funny? " of course. depending on one's point of view, all things can be funny. laughing is no different from crying. crying is laughing, laughing is crying. hate is love, love is hate. questions only arise when one leans toward division.

Ahhhhhh!
Its been 14 years now since I escaped from my cubicle in DC and came to live in a small seaside town on Puget Sound. Very rural. Also lots of wooded areas on my peninsula.
I love my dog. She's my sweetie. And she loves to go for walks, on the beach, in the woods, everywhere. |

its not that were using our mind to escape our mind. we are merely using the ability of our minds to find the true mind that hides behind the many delussions of what most consider the real world. I express this thought not to instigate argument or to set my self as one that knows but to simply try to simplify an unecessarly complicated subject. |

There is only one reality.
Therefore there is only one mind.
Therefore all is oneness.
Just look around. Dont think about it. See it. One thing. Reality.
No mind is not crap. Your vocab is crap at the moment. By calling it crap you are trying to take a spekky(the spectacular mark of a football in Aussie rules Footy) on the back of others so that you dont feel stupid or crappy about your own ingorance(meaning that you are choosing to ignore certain things for whatever reason).
You offend. Why? Addict!!
No mind is a term used to explain/describe something. You are taking it literally even though you have had this said to you before.
Why dont you look into what 'no-mind' means.
It does not mean that there is no mind.
Just like emptyness. It does not mean that you can pour water into a solid stone
because it is empty.

Yes. Relax about 'what'. What is everywhere.
I reckon that you are missing something.
I reckon that you are missing knowing this paradox. How it is a paradox.
Maybe your knowing paradox as a word at this stage and not as an experience.
Relax Shayne.
In the meantime.
Dont meditate. Just sit and look at the world. Dont worry about whatever thoughts float in and out. Eventually you will give up the racing mind and then you may see something.
But you must be siiting and looking with the eyes open. Its sitting. Not meditation.
OK brawler. |

He left the forum some time ago, saying it made no sense to discuss zen. |

Personally I do not think it matters one way or another.
The forum is here, and sometimes I am here. I am not here to gain anything, or to offer anything. It is nothing to me if others benefit or not from what is found here. I have found quite a few nuggets of thought here that I have found valuable. I pick them up and put them in my bag of tricks. That is reason enough to come back, from time to time. |
