Ching Ch'ing, a Chinese Ch'an master, asked a monk:
-What is the sound outside?
The monk answered:
-That is the sound of rain.
The master said:
-Sentient beings are upside down, they lose themselves in pursuit of things.
The sky is not untouched by the rain. The bottom part gets soaked routinely.
Reminds me of a joke my biker friend told me. Said he ran into one of his old lady's ex-boyfriends who asked him how he liked her since he had worn her out. He said she was great, except for the first inch or two.
