When a monk came to say good bye to Chao-chou Tsung-shen (778-897), a brilliant Chinese Ch'an master.
Chao-chou asked:
-Where will you go?
The monk answered:
-Any place where I can learn Buddha dharma.
Chao-chou stood... continue...

vertical line Posted on May.25.2008 @ 07:21PM EDT by 9999999
just as a seed never can see the flower, "you" can never know that what you are is all there is. but in the SEEing it is so, and there is no room for "you" or "anyone else" in that seeing (without a seer)

The first response in crisis really is not an option, honesty is not an option. One can see it, as a quiet reflection, a shock, or an overt dropping of the wall of ego defense as being expressed through tears.

It depends, on the course of one's generally average day. Anger is one form of desire which is pushed to a panic stage, any overly pronounced expression of dislike that carries with it a defense to inflict pain on another.

Silence can be uncomfortable for some. Nights tend to be silent. The darker the quieter.

True intimacy can be hard for some patterned through superficial avoidance. Television is classic for having superficiality as alternative for truth. Of course this place here is a form of avoidance, or can be.

vertical line There is no centre.  Even 'awakening' is an idea.  The so-called 'awakened state' is just another thought pattern - the thought arises: 'I need to be awake' which one then attaches to and is given importance. This thought then becomes a difficulty.  It isn't that you're not awake yet, it's simply that the belief arises that 'I need to be awake'. Even the idea of 'delusion' is delusion. There isn't even any 'timeless'.  All this mental noise is trying to speak about the miracle, the indefinable, ineffable, that which cannot be captured by, through and with words.  There's no option, no effort, no choice.  Nothing personal.  What it is, I don't know. I don't know what it is.
