vertical line I just got done reading....the memories we had as a child, or long ago, weren't really ours because not one atom in our present body were here at the time of the memory. If that's so, where would the soul be kept? An aura perhaps, enveloping our constantly changing self? What is self for that matter?

Experience of subject-object, obviously. But is the 'subject' symbol-noun real? "This collection of atoms: right, here?".
