vertical line Posted on Aug.06.2008 @ 07:31PM EDT by spitfirecl

hi!  I have been practicing zazen for a time, but i always have the same trouble, the belly respiration, please if someone can teach me or give some advises of how to do it , will be great , sometimes i think that i do correctly but i really dont know...

and my other question is, what is better, to do zazen one time each day for 30-40 minutes or to do zazen 2 times each day but of 20 minutes each one...

vertical line I know I shouldn't be posting in this thread and it's not that temptation reared its little pointy head. See, it's as if I can't take anything on this forum at face value any longer. I seem to spend more time looking at the screen than the words. Perhaps you could gives to me some advises on how I'm stopping this. Perhaps I should leave and never return, or something. What do you think? Is it even possible? I mean, technically there is no leaving but not posting and not reading could be argued to be the same thing as leaving. What do you think? What are your thoughts on the matter? Any thoughts? Or am I just way out of line? Don't hold anything back. Cheers!

i forget to say that normally I confuse the stomach respiration with the belly one, and that is my principal problem.

meditation calms the mind. i practice many times a day.

think of it this way. prolonged mediation = even calmer mind.

shorter meditation = shorter calmness.

meditation also helps with concentration so longer periods means youll be able to focus longer.

so better to practice for longer periods as this strengthens the focus.

also just focus on the incoming and outgoing breaths. i wouldnt worry about the belly. youll naturally relax and belly breathe.

What do you have when one person climbs to the top of a mountain?

A person who has climbed to the top of a mountain.

What do you have when one person stares at a mountain and does not climb it?

A person who stares at a mountain and does not climb it.

What do you have when a person does whatever they do to experience being at the top of a mountain?

Experience knowing the answer.
