to calm the mind.

to become one with your breathing.

to realize their is nothing to grasp save the focusing of the attention on the breathing.

to realize the oneness you have with the universe ( you hear sounds regardless if you pay attention to them or not , this is awareness )

and this realization is awakening.

to realize WHAT you do with your mind ( Attention ).

use the mind to find the truth of things.

this is the way.

its a useful tool not to discarded.

a relaxed mind produces a relaxed body. im not saying lazy. not overly tight not underly loose. just right.

its like a chord when struck. when not properly tuned it produces a bad sound.

vertical line And when you just listen to your body, you begin to feel more respect and appreciation for the simply things, like breathing, or just being able to stop, as it's ok to undo the stress, the worry and the fear.

I think we all see pretty much the same value in meditation.

Its like an intermission of sorts, a break.

We can let go of ideas, tension, strife, and all the things that weigh on us, and then get back into the game of life fresh and renewed.

Its an advantage to be able to do that.

I also like the visions.  The other day I was meditating and had a vision that I made love to a beautiful woman.  Later I met a woman at a BBQ in the neighborhood who was in her 50's, like me, and I realized that the woman in the vision was her in her 20's.  Fascinating.  Of course, I made no mention of it to her.  I just enjoyed her company all the more for it.

yeah. i dont have visions per say.

i have realizations.

i dont believe in the subconscious.

i dont believe in time.

i believe we made up all words.

words are short definations of the nonverbal reality.

the nonverbal reality. or wobba as i like to call it is everything to me.

wobba being a word i made up to describe this non verbal reality.

Yes, I say 'Bring on the dancing girls'.  It doesn't matter either way, whether we have visions or not, believe in anything or not, whether we live or die, exist or not.  None of that matters.  Being is what we are doing, for no reason at all.  There is no plus or minus in any of it.  It just is.

What is meditation good for anyway?

It looks all Buddha-ish I suppose.

I reckon that it is only good for 'time out' when you do some 'seeing in' when you have forgotten that all that you are ever doing is having a 'see-in' anyway.

The only way that I see this is helpfull is when you just- sit and look.

Yes. Sitting. Thats all.

Sorta maybe the simple real zen thing.

Thousands of years ago a bloke was sitting there having a look at 'himself being all' and others around him in there innocent ignorance thought that he was doing something extaordinary, and since then have turned it into a Diploma course with so many masters degrees.

And not one of them anything to do with the experience of sitting and having a look-in.
