Sakuladayi the Wanderer asked the Buddha:
-What is the past and what is the future?
The Buddha answered:
-Let the past be and forget the future. I will teach you that... continue...

Are things like murder wrong or is their "wrongness" constructed?

vertical line Constructed. Nothing wrong with a Saber-Tooth Tiger, but I`d kill it if it became an immediate threat to anyone and so would you.

vertical line It’s constructed. It happens in order for the next thing to be materialised. We get what we think about the most. If a murder has to be committed for that to come about so be it. Something in us doesn’t care. It’s only job is to give us what we want, or what we think we want. Our thoughts determine the quality of our life.

murder is taking someones life intentionally and wrongfully.

killing someone is circumstantial.

it depends on circumstance.

but these are words and words are used to explain the nonverbal reality.

murder is -

killing someone with no reason save selfish ones.

they didnt do you know wrong.

thats murder.

vertical line People murder people for hurting someone they love. That is also revenge. And one lives with the outcome. There is no right or wrong. There is nothing but thinking makes it so.

vertical line Ok, if you were in the 1930`ss and could kill Hitler. You somehow knew what the future
would be because some totally convincing entity had told you. Angel whatever.
You end up with the gun pointing to the back of his head. As you do this you suddenly
grasp the reality. If you do not shoot, you will be indirectly responsible for all the
horrors to come ahead. Do you pull the trigger?
At this moment the angel comes by and tell you that if you kill him, earth will suffer
overpopulation and cripple the environment before the end of the century.
So you`re choice now is to save the planet by killing millions of innocent people, stop
believing in Angels, or letting go of useless pondering on right and wrong since you`ll
only know that in an actual situation.

vertical line Remember I said I met Buddha and became a Buddhist? Ok, this is what happened next.

Don't ask me how I got to know, you wouldn't understand, visions and stuff, but he wasn't the real deal. There he was hiding out under my deck and all. So I went back, said a prayer to Sam Colt and put him down, now he sleeps under my deck permanent. That night I slept the best sleep I ever slept for a long sleep.

Next morning, I showered, shaved, and you know, did the other. Applied some product. Then dressed in a freshly laundered shirt, slacks and loafers, I went looking for that cute little waitress who blew into town a couple days ago. Packed my writing gear into my little attache case and off I go.

On the way, I made a small donation to the local Catholic church. The priest was most grateful, it was most very gratifying. As we shook hands I had a vision. I saw my little niche in heaven, up in the universal star system, I saw my little house on the prairie with a picket fence.

So, how is your day going?

In Zen it is said that, "The rat does not steal and the cat does not murder.  Each simply acts according to it nature."

As humans it is well within our nature to steal or to murder.  Or not.
