vertical line Well, I want to get beyond the condition of habit with eating food. I'm off beef, and pork, but still eat chicken and fish. But now am concerned about how these animals I eat are being raised, and treated. And the question won't go unanswered. I'm not goin' to the Amish colony to get my answer, and don't eat fish that much, so I can forget the questions I guess, for now.

I'm a meat eater.

Once a week I get out the pressure cooker and throw in about 3 pounds of sliced beef, with a bottle of BBQ sauce poured over it.

After the beef is removed I heat up about 3 cups of water with the 'leavings' in the bottom of the pot and use that to make instant rice to go with the beef.

Very savory !!!!  I can nuke it all week.

I thought you raised rabbits, not pigs.

If grocery prices keep going up I'll start raising both.

I've been thinking of eating the cats that come hunting on my back deck.  I put out seeds for the squirrels and birds.  The cats think that's their hunting ground.  I shoot at them with a BB gun, to run them off, but they keep coming back.

Gautama Buddha was also a meat eater.  Until he died from food poisioning from spoiled meat.  Is that the message?

Plants don't like to be killed and eaten either.  When I drive by a corn field it is like driving past Auswitz.  Same with a pig farm.

Still I prefer domestication to hunting or gathering.  At least we then have done some service in return for that which we take.

Everything that lives must eat something else in order to stay alive.  And when it can no longer stay alive it too will be eaten in the same way.  That's the way this plane of existence works.  There is nothing good or bad about it.

I believe you are a Christian, my friend.

Or are you?

What exactly happened to Jesus when he was being babtized by John the Babtist.  Did he experience an 'awakening', and become a Buddha?  Hmmmmmm !?!

So then maybe to be a Christian and a Buddhist are not so far apart.

John didn't just baptize out of a desire a person showed outwardly to unite with the spirit, but inwardly when the spirit moved down, dying to the old direction, and moved up out of total dependence on an outside giver of life, it was a spontaneous act between united beings. The water can symbolize the feminine here, or the earth, the origin.

the biggest differance between a christian and a buddhist is we call god differant things.

suchness = god = reality = the whole= one.
