Not to be reached by traveling is the end of the world,
Yet there is no release from sorrow
Unless you reach the end of the world.

The one who is wise and lives... continue...

A finger taps the table.

Once, twice.

Oh. How reality knows no fill.

Quote: "Is reality itself not emptyness?"

At the center of every atom there is energy that is without weight or mass, and every atom has this same energy.  So that would be baseline physical reality as we know it.  At that level the Universe is an infinite glob of this energy.  Maybe it is self-aware.  Maybe it is the embodiment of Universal Consciousness.

Then there follows differentiation into atoms, of which there are a limited type.

Then these atoms combine with other atoms to form molecules of which there appear to be an unlimited type.

Only the baseline energy is constant.  The atoms and molecules are in a constant state of flux.  Because of this constant state of change, the Universe is never the same place two seconds in a row.  But because of the immutable energy at its core, it is always the same place, the same 'thing'.

So that's a nice provable paradox:  That which is constant while everything changes, in it and around it.

We hesitate to assert that which we cannot prove.  And I believe there is much more to it than physical reality.  But even that provable physical reality is enough.  If someone can actually define that energy for me, that would be great.

vertical line The Greeks thought that there was nothing smaller than the atom as the 'basic building block of matter'- that's why they called it 'a-tomos' (uncuttable, indivisible). However, as we know, the atom can be cut/split. Nature has been splitting the atom for billions of years while scientists have managed the same fairly recently. There are a about 90 naturally occurring atoms and scientists have created about 25 more.

Scientists found that the atom is made of protons which carry a positive charge and neutrons which carry no charge. The protons and neutrons join together to form the nucleus, the central part of the atom and electrons which carry a negative charge circle (orbit) the nucleus.

They thought there was nothing smaller than the proton and the neutron but then they found that there are particles inside the proton and neutron which they called quarks.

There are three quarks in each proton and each neutron, which they also gave names and are held together by other particles which they called gluons.

Theoretically, it's possible to divide something by 2 as many times as you want - infinity. Scientific understanding presently, is that quarks are vibrating strings. A string vibrating in one particular way produces a quark, vibrating in another way produces an electron.

The universe is like one vibrating mandala, scientifically speaking.

heheheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Addendum to previous post:

Protons and neutrons do have mass and neutrons have more mass than protons. Electrons have virtually no mass. When a proton emits a particle, the resulting neutron is heavier than the proton. Or something like that. The point is that the particles which make up the atom have mass, can be measured.

by the way, did you know that it's called the standard model because it basically hasn't been proven to be true but there's nothing better to replace it either. hah.

Quote: "Is reality itself not emptyness?"
.........

If reality itself has no measure, no vastness, no beginning point, no end, how is it ever filled with anything. It seems to be 'The Emptyness'.

I am talking about reality itself.

Not what we believe that we find as things within reality.

That eternal on light with no off switch. The nature of it itself.

All is paradox.

Emptyness is reality.

Ain't it great !?

No matter how many time you cut something in half there is always a half to cut in half again.

So infinity goes as far inward as it does outward.  No such thing as big or small, just relative values, which I greatly appreciated in the locker room. let me tell you.

And eternity goes as far backward as it does forward too.

But Lehish would no doubt insist on pointing out that eternity and infinity are just concepts within the ever-present NOW.   And I agree.

What is real in reality is the energy at the core of the atoms.  What is real beyond reality is the awareness, or consciousness, which permeates NOW.

That energy could be called 'nothingness', but what is it, that awareness, that experiences 'nothingness'.

That is the great riddle, the great paradox.  How could it be 'nothingness' if there is something in it to experience it?  And if there is no such thing in 'nothingness', then how can 'nothingness' be experienced?

You may conclude that 'nothingness' cannot be experienced, but try to keep your mind open to infinite possibilities.

What we need is a study on the emptiness between Shayne's ears.

Now that 'nothingness' must truly be experienced to be appreciated.

I'm just kidding Shayne.  We approach the spectrum from opposite ends, but its the same spectrum, so to speak.
