→→→→ vertical line TOPIC: SANDCASTLES
vertical line Posted on Oct.24.2008 @ 04:49AM EDT by immortal 1

My favorite story by Gautama Buddha is about the boys on the beach making sandcastles.

They each tried to make the best sandcastle, and wanting to have the best, they tried to stomp out the other fellows castles.

So they had to defend their castles as well as labor to construct them, which made things doubly hard to do.

All day long they built and fought.  And had to spend a lot of time rebuilding.

Then, at the end of the day, their mothers called them home for dinner, and the tide came in and washed away all of the sandcastles.

When one does not know that reality is experiental, one can easily become an addict of experience.

Now isnt that a bit of a paradox?

vertical line The gunslinger walked along the sandy beach shore. He was tired, hot and thirsty. But not hungry, he had eaten one of the monster crabs that seemed to be the only living thing in this sea. And he discovered that these creatures tasted even worse than they looked. He had been using one of the bad rounds that had been soaked in seawater*, and after trying two different cartridges, one finally went off after pulling the trigger twice. He had almost no real belief that he`d get one to work, so he got quite stunned and covered in green goo from the creature from shooting it with an irritated attitude at an recklessly close range. Still, he had managed to save his three remaining good cartridges, and gained valuable knowledge of these creatures utter distastefulness.

Still, he`d not seen any of them for all day, and he started to wonder if he`d scared them off or something weird hen he suddenly stumbled upon an sandcastle. It as battered and almost washed out in the sea, but still unmistakably. Someone had built it. And it had to have been recently. As he continued along this stretch more remains of sandcastles came to vie, and something more disturbing, blood. Here and there he could see the telltale human sign of running and rolling around in the sand. The gunslinger got very cautious, there had been some kind of fight, and it had happened recently, very recently. As the gunslinger silently gazed the beached he could feel a cold chill at his back, and he suddenly realized, someone was somehow standing behind him!

Hello Shayne,

I did not say experimental. That would be a word coming from the word experiment.

I said E X P E R I E N T A L, being a word coming from the word E X P E R I E N C E.

Yes. The experience of being.

Now re-read what I have posted and it will naturally have a different meaning to what you thought before.

And by the way, you dont need to share any of the many unique experiences that I have in my head and in my being.

Truth be known, you couldnt even if you tried, yet you referred to experience sharing as though it is something that you do.

The experience of thinking that you can share an experience.

Isnt that a paradox.

You can only share occurrances.

Now, leave my head alone.

Youve got your own.

Im not sharing.

Quote: "whats the point of the story except people fight over transient things?"
.........

In One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, patient Ranle McMurphy is being evaluated by a Board of Three Psychiatrists to see if he actually has a mental condition or should be returned to the Prison.

One of the Psychiatrists asks him what it would mean to him if someone said, "A rolling stone gathers no moss."

He responds, as if to state the obvious to a stupid question, "I guess that means its hard for something to grow on something that is moving."

On that basis he was committed to the institution.

Yes, the more one learns the less one knows.

The real challenge in life is to live with paradox, and not knowing.

What is thought?

What is known?

What is paradox?
