A monk asked the priest Kan-feng:
-Bhagavats in the ten directions got one straight road to Nirvana. I dare to ask where that road is?
Kan-feng lifted up his staff, drew a line in the air, and said:
-Here it is.

yesterday morning i was sitting on the couch with mom watching tv

i glanced at my leg and i glanced at the tv

there was a priest on tv

i glanced back at my leg and it seemed as if i saw everything that my leg would go through (in an instant) if i were to go be a priest (or anything)--the beliefs, practices, meals, pilgrimages

hair would grow or fall out
scars would develop
it might be covered in different clothes

but it still was just a leg

; )

A friend of mine became a priest.

On his first day in the monastery he went to breakfast and the monk next to him was very obliging.  He filled his cup and served his food, taking nothing for himself.

The same thing occured at every meal for a couple of days.  Then he found a note tacked to his door asking that he look at page 8 of the handbook.

Next to the instructions pertaining to the vow of silence was a passage saying that a monk cannot partake of food or drink unless it is offered to him by another monk.
