the court of the monastery, a man asked him:
-Ch'an monastery supposed to be clean and pure. Why is there dust to sweep?
Chao-chou replied:
-It came... continue...

vertical line Posted on Nov.03.2008 @ 06:04PM EDT by noumenal

Transient ripples of seeming meaning

Flood the mind with all its dreaming

And so the ocean still and deep

Remains a mystery we forever seek

Urge to seek seems to originate from the need to be whole.Very powerful.Makes one wonder why we are born in such a state. Then we desire the other.Or try to seek beyond...but...it must be past through.Nice poem

Where two appear

One disappears

Don't you think that's rather weird?

It is strange, yet beautiful, that we seek to be whole.A longing for a bliss...love...
And we have the answer....yet stare across a big mud hole to the other side....And yes...enlightenment is on this side too, right here...But..........we muck around in our humaness..seeking until its more elusive. Why is this condition necessary? We are thrown in a mud hole. Could have fun in it...right? Mostly an unnecessary struggle. So why are we aware of a beautiful state of no mind thats almost impossible to have because we have the flaw of not letting go?

vertical line "The measure of enlightenment is how comfortable you feel with your own contradictions."

Also:
Everybody makes mistakes.
Some confess, while others do not.
Those who confess immediately
By new mistakes are rarely caught.

From something I linked to before (a few of them are good).

This looks like head stuff.  And you could be mistaken.  What you think you know to be the ocean could be a representation of what you think the ocean is.  Anyway, I don't know - I live in the kingdom of bewilderment.

vertical line A mystery isn't a problem to be solved.  The concept of noumenon - 'that which is thought' isn't compatible with the 'thing–in–itself' [ocean, sun, tree etcetera], and can’t be known. Noumena is thought in opposition to appearance - abstract knowledge of the head, not of the heart which is being.

I think we are born with eyes filled with wonder, and if we are lucky we find our way back to that.

In the meantime, we experience want, and then we need in order to satisfy want, and then we suffer when our needs are not meet and our wants go unsatisfied.

But if we do not want then we do not need, and if we do not need then we do not suffer, and then we can look upon the world again with eyes filled with wonder.
