I am this that or the other is the self-identity trap. Identify yourself as something and you build a wall: there's you and not-you. Equals isolation, alienation, suffering, war, fragmentation, the duality of observer-and-observed, subject-and-object, yours and mine, etc, etc.

Buddha and others transcended this egocentric duality of self and not-self.

So, on the whole, no, Buddha was not a Buddhist!

But seriously, there must be more to this question. Basically, as far as I know, he became an enlightened free-foodist.

Buddha is a six letter word.

Shame. You sometimes claim to be beyond and above the dogma.

"Was Buddha a buddhist?"

Sure, what do you think that subtle smile is all about?

There is a warm glow that goes with understanding buddha.

Sometimes it seems to wear a little thin in the company of other people, so we meditate to restore it.

If all is nothingness, then who or what was buddha?

If you are religious then you may find it hard to answer this as religionists hold beliefs rather than truths.

See how you go.

All = Nothingness
Buddha = 3 Pounds of Flax
All = Buddha
All = 3 Pounds of Flax

F2 is a keyboard shortcut that, under Windows applications, is generally used to rename items.

Belief is knowing. Truth is knowing. Slaternly language.

Life is a mystery; isn't life a mystery?  Even if we use philosophical language, especially if we use philosophical language, to talk about it, to describe it, the mystery only deepens, remains the elusive mystery. Pointing and hinting at the divine with art and the mystery remains untouched. You and me having the appearance of a physical body existing in the world while being the awareness within which the world exists - awareness as spaciousness as emptiness.  The infinite potential of being - the apparent existence of a person in the world and me/you as awareness witnessing an ever-changing moment.  You and me - apparent distinct identities and yet, as awareness we are indistinguishable. Who knows? There are many viewpoints and opinions which can seem to take life, the mystery, for granted - never stopping to wonder. The mystery isn't that it is what it is, rather, the mystery is that it is at all.
