Do not go after the past,
Do not lose yourself in the future.
For the past no longer exists,
And the future is not yet here.
By looking deeply at things just as they are,
In this moment, here and now,
The seeker... continue...

→→→→ vertical line TOPIC: SIMPLE ZEN.
vertical line Posted on Feb.08.2009 @ 03:47AM EDT by shayne

the highest principle of zen is this -

to sit and count the breaths or follow the breaths.

nothing else.

nothing to grasp except for the very nature of the mind that follows the breaths.

be free with it ( the attention ) and look into all the ten million things of this earth.

i am free.

free from the delusion of seeking an enlightenment that will never come save with the extinction of seeking one.

afterall who made up enlightenment?

seems like a made up word to me.

realize the nature of the mind.

grasp it directly.

what a big load we carry around, this Zen literature

it was not the Masters that wrote it, it was those deluded monks spying on them

I  think  that  is  probably  right.  If  I'm  not  mistaken  satori involves the individuals questions ceasing and  his  life  genuinely  beginning with him / her being  at  home in  his / her own  skin and  not  contaminated  by concepts that  are imposed  by  someone else.

Most  people miss 'reality'.

vertical line You'll know when ya see it, nobody has to tell you anything, you just know inside, can begin with the most simple sound, motion. Then, before you can put a finger on it, it begins somewhere totally unrelated. Whenever I try and predict it happening I am never right, then when I let go, it floods.

questions can be used, a tool

don't assume all questions are for asking for an answer

Yeah, cool.

The thing about the Masters is that they know they are not Masters of anything.

Dogen refused to allow himself to be referred to as Master.

Its an idea that only has value to those who wish to be Masters themselves someday.

Which is what you said.
