vertical line Ok this is it:  I'm sitting in a car, engine off, the engine has been off for 15 or so minutes, waiting, when BANG!! People walking around turn to look in my direction. There is a man whose head appears to have swivelled so far round to look for the source of the BANG!! it seems to be in danger of falling off.  His expression is a scared expression.  He looks at me, then looks at his car, sitting in the passenger seat of which is a small boy on a phone completely oblivious to the BANG!! The man licks his lips nervously with a little tongue flick, shoots me one more glance and carries on his way.

So I get out of the car and look on the roof.  I'm thinking something may have fallen out of the sky and landed on it.  No, nothing there.  I realise that I seem to be acting nonchalantly. People lose interest because there is no more BANG!!  I walk around the car with the question:  "What was that?"  I don't find anything.  My wife returns and on the drive home I can hear a knocking noise from the front nearside, or was it the rear nearside.  Anyway.

vertical line I think we all know the kind of enlightenment that allows one to give generalised answers for any question. We can all do that. The tricky bit is the arrogance required for the totally dogmatic assertion. So... Are you arrogant?

Oh yeah, was selfish ever healthy?

Where is my squirrel twirler prong? Or where was it when I found it, and what was I thinking at the time? In three words or less. No clues.

And, what am I holding? Rhymes with ' empty oil-sunflower birdseed bag" But not really. There is no rhyme, if ya got the time! Ahhh!!

My puppy is gettin' his nuts cut off today. Ooouuchhyy Pooouucchyy! Been there...

Sadly, many of you have shown here that you think enlightenment is an elevated position socially to you.  That shows also that it is something to which you aspire.

It shows also that you are locked in a socio-economic quagmire where you think who you are is dependent on social position or material possessions, determined by what other people think of you.

If someone is awakened you should feel sorry for them.  They have lost everything.  They are nothing.  They are no one.

And they are not socially above anyone or anything, not even a dog turd, because they are the equal of everything, of anything you can name, and not better or worse than anything or anyone.

Your prejudice is blocking your path.

I hope you can clear your mind.

Apparently Bapsikca has found the questions he requested to be too much to deal with - as I would have expected. It reminds me of a jocular quote I "acquired" ages ago...

" People who think they know it all are a pain in the ass to those of us who do."

Well, at least it make a change from all the politically correct "'zen-speak" nonsense that always worms its way into every conversation on this board.

What, you mean like your The Beloved?

That is okay.  You will get over it.  It is the last Bastian of duality.

Or as the Moody Blues put it, The Truth is hard to swallow, that is what the Wall of Love is for.

You cannot handle it yet that The Truth is that there is no Truth.  Just you, and nothing to hang onto, not even nothing, or nothingness.

So maybe you strike out at anything or anyone that might pose a threat to your The Beloved.

There is no The Beloved.  Its just something you will not let go of, like your kinky.

The dress code was:
1. You can't see the master until he calls you in
~and~
B. You can only ask one question

After 20 years of waiting he was finally called in.

He asked, "How can I be more awake?"

The master replied, "I've always wondered about that too."

Maybe so, but I did not coin the term The Beloved.  I read that in one of your posts.

I used to feel that way too, for a long time.  Like The One, the creator of All, was the lonely Geppetto in his workshop hoping the Pinnochio, me, could come to life.

A guy told me when I came to this site that I would get over that, as he did.

I have.  The me that I know as me is still a creation of the me, The One, that I have remembered that I am, so my sorrow and sympathy was only for myself.  And I have stopped feeling sorry for myself, so I do not have to think of The One as anything other than myself at the core of it all, the source of it all.  The common root that all of us leaves share as one.

In one of his books, Carlos Castenda says he asked his mentor don Juan Matus if there was anything he was afraid of.  He said he was only afraid of losing The Spirit.  I used to agree with that, but now I am not even afraid of  that, because I am The Spirit, and how could I ever lose myself?

It was a delusion when I awakened from my satori experience to believe that I had met God, The One, as it were.  Actually what I did was I remembered myself being The One before creation.

At this point, I believe it was a memory experience.  That was really too much to comprehend or accept at the time, nearly 20 years ago, so I warped it into something along the lines of  having met The Beloved.

It is so. As is your fixation on disorders which manifest as your default fall-back position. Don Juan Matus was probably metaphor. The Beloved is metaphor.

I do not think so, although the concept of Zen is just that.

I believe in Zen, but not between two of anything, but only from The One to itself, to a part of itself.

Zen from teacher to student I believe is an illusion.  Zen comes only from Buddha, I believe.  But that is only my view.  Value your own more.

You should have hope that Buddha will transmit its Zen to you, or maybe be grateful that it has not.

Buddhism is a religion and prayer for such things is okay.

Even if you do not have any idea of what Buddha is, that is okay too.  After Buddha gives you its transmission you will have even less of an idea of what Buddha is.
