Once upon a time, there were a father and a son of a family in a busy city. The father was a very skillful thief in the city. He was getting older and older and worried about his son, who was still rather young and knew nothing about his... continue...

→→→→ vertical line TOPIC: NEW FRIDGE
vertical line Posted on Jul.09.2012 @ 05:49AM EDT by starduster

Got a new fridge today.  The old one was over 20 years old and not energy efficient, so no reason to repair it.  The electricity saved will pay for the new one.

Even though it has a smaller footprint, it has more room inside.  Thats nice.  It was good not to have to go to the store last week while I ate up all the stuff in the freezer, before it went bad.  But now I have to fill it back up again.

Got a new roof a month or so ago.  Next week the house gets painted.  The guy who works on my house is going to paint it in exchange for my old (1979) motorcycle and trailer.  Thats good for me because I dont ride it anymore and would like to get rid of it.

Change is good.

vertical line When I bought my new fridge, I was amazed at how petite it was. It was the right size for my small apartment. Anyway, six months later, right after the warranty ended, it stopped getting cold. The freezer part wasn't too bad by the bottom was hot. I took it apart and fixed it. Two months later, it broke again but I would not let it die. Fixed it again. Another year and it broke again. I figured it was time to get another fridge. Bought a nice one. A little bigger but really good brand. Then, my wife decides we have to move. Life never stops ... even if your fridge does.

vertical line Kinda sorta on topic.  There was a huge storm that went through here last week and kicked a lot of people off the grid.  There is an icecream place nearish to me and they lost all of their power and the ice cream started to melt so they just gave it all away for free.  I've never seen the place look fuller, or the tip jar either.

Things break, and the unexpected happens.  But it is remarkable how well and how selflessly people can bring themselves together.

vertical line Since this has something to do with new fridge, I'd like to share that I was really excited when I got my brand new fridge. It may have been under bad circumstances, but I was still able to get the fridge. I got a payday loan to help pay for it after my old one broke unexpectedly. I could not afford to pay the repairman that did nothing and buy the brand new fridge, so I had to get quick cash.

When I'm hungry, I eat ...
When I'm tired, I sit ...
What does that have to do with Zen??
The answer is obvious ... is it not??

...

Just as the alchemists turned lead into gold
So does a fridge turn heat into cold  ......

Zen turns the heat of delusion into the cold light of truth ...

It's profoundly spiritual ...

Who am I kidding, it's nothing to do with Zen !!

There is really nothing to say about Zen: nothing to say about no-thing, or nothingness.

So how can there even be a Zen Forum when this in itself is a contradiction in terms?
