TOPIC: INNER PEACE |
|
|
 |
Posted on Aug.06.2012 @ 10:44AM EDT by Dalai Lama
Peace and religious harmony come about through taking action, not necessarily through making prayers and good wishes. In order to carry action out, enthusiasm is very important, and enthusiasm comes from being clear about our goal and the possibility of our fulfilling it. Here, we need educate young people about our ultimate goal, peace in the world, and how to fulfil it by cultivating inner peace within themselves.

When finally you can stop thinking you have inner peace. If you still think you only think you have inner peace. |

If you think your internal dialogue is thinking, and that you stop thinking when you stop the internal dialogue, do you really understand thinking?
I can remember thinking before I could talk. I remember learning to talk. How could one learn to talk without thinking ?
Talking to yourself in your head is not thinking, its talking to yourself about what you are thinking. |

There are many ways for aperson to skin a cat. Most of them end disastrously for the feline or the hominid or both. Enthusiasm and action are fine, but unless that is tempered by careful consideration the fix may produce more problems than the underlying issue.
I think inner peace comes from doing something well, and doing so requires thought. |

Inner peace comes only with understanding. If you understand you have peace of mind. And this is not easy to come by. |

Some people wrote in to the paper complaining about dogs being off their leashes.
I wrote back that people just let their cats out the door to roam unsupervised. They come to my deck, where I feed birds and squirrels, and use my feeder as bait to hunt. I added that if people didn't get off my back about my dog, I would start feeding him cats.
