What, monks, is the world? The eye and shapes, the ear and sounds,
the nose and smells, the tongue and tastes, the body and tactile objects,
the mind and mental objects - these... continue...

→→→→ vertical line TOPIC: WISE PEOPLE
vertical line Posted on Aug.07.2012 @ 04:46AM EDT by starduster

Nothing shows off the lack of wisdom in the world more than putting a bunch of wise people together in one place.

Like the five wise blind men examining an elephant, for instance.

Or Zenguides Forum, as another example.

Glad to be here, but Im not looking for wisdom.  So I wont be disappointed.

This is a great social gathering place for those attuned to Zen type thoughts or religion.  Im just killing time on the night shift.

I think wisdom is like putting a coin in the parking meter, because most of the time what is right is what works.

vertical line No wise man here.
Just a novice trying to learn more.
But, I've got to say that I get an awful lot of conflicting information.
Guess that is the nature of language.

vertical line Thou didst divide the sand by thy strength; Thou breakest the heads of the dragons in the desert. Yea, I behold thee as a beast coming up from the dunes; thou hast the horns of the lamb, but thou speakest as the dragon.

vertical line There was a man so wise
He jumped into
A sandy place
And burnt out both his eyes!
And when he knew his eyes were gone,
He offered no complaint.
He summoned up a vision
And made himself a saint.
~ Children's verse from History of Muad'dib

vertical line It's a quote from the Orange Catholic Bible - a book of Dune - which is based on Maometh Saari, Mahayana Christianity, Zensunni Catholicism and Buddislamic traditions. The quote references a verse in The Book of Revelation.

vertical line thats an important lesson, when catholics are around, or any
abrahamic faith person dont fight them, or try to argue with them
logically, theyll just keep making it more n more dualistic and thats
a very dangerous situation, its just their nature, thats their faith,
dont fight them, because its not about that, the hack for it, the
remedy, the spell is all you? need to do is? say you're a mystic, that
helps both them and you? and the universe nd assures their childlike
doings have no karma, truth

I only come here to socialize, but nonetheless I have picked up quite a few *gold nuggets* from friends here, as well as been called a *crap nugget* occaisionally.

It passes the time.

All things go back to the beginning.
Wow, there are crickets.
