Ryokan, a Zen master, lived the simplest kind of life in a little hut at the foot of a mountain. One evening a thief visited the hut only to discover there was nothing to steal. Ryokan returned and caught him. "You have come a long way... continue...

→→→→ vertical line TOPIC: ANOTHER GOOD POST
vertical line Posted on Aug.22.2012 @ 12:12AM EDT by Avisitor
Riverstone has left me another message that I wish to post here.
Please read and I hope it resonates with you.
When one is in full awareness .. one is awake.

Awareness observes without discrimination .. all activity of the mind. This awareness comes before action or mental activity.
This awareness provides the space in which to engage free will .. to incline toward the momentum of these arriving activity.
Or, to relinquish the momentum, rather than be enthralled by these experiences.
We are constantly enthralled by the arriving thoughts, perceptions, notions which are born in that place where we are attached to a particular condition.
When a rather tempting mental momentum arrives the practice of awareness immediately provides this momentum a huge amount of space.
There is no attachment to this momentum and there is no manipulation of this momentum.
Yet by cradling the experience of this momentum, its energy dissipates as your clinging dissipates.

The stronger your concentration becomes .. the easier it is to lay aside the momentum of your preconceived notions, clinging.
It is inevitable that through these actions a silence will emerge which has been described as “no-mind” or “not-thinking”.
This is the letting go of ones point of reference or frame of reference. Many people experience this silence.
They simply are and you feel them rather than know things by their conceptual names.
When we enter this experience, we stop thinking ... in a mild, unforced and very natural way.
Then suddenly, there is an experience of thinking. And what was just a moment ago something you were experiencing as part of you, it is now divorced and cut away.
And then, we come back to thinking. All of the aforementioned wording could and should be thrown out.

The practice is simply being here and accepting every experience that arrives. And by so doing, the things I describe here unfold naturally.
Once you reach this empty clear space, you let yourself think the things you need to think to accomplish the task which are before you, but with awareness and not unfocused momentum.
The wisdom that comes with non-discriminating mind can be put forth into the world by returning to linear conceptual mind.

Now let me tell you why no one will tell you all of this. All of the data I have put forth here generates an image, a concept, an idea, which becomes a powerful barrier to what is essentially the releasing of all ideas, all imaginings and all concepts. Imagine a dagger, it has two edges and a point. The non-conceptual mind is one edge, the conceptual mind is the other edge, where duality ends and insight into ones true nature begins, one is pierced by the point. The danger in saying this .. is that there is no dagger, no conceptual mind, no non-conceptual mind, yet it was given birth here as I spoke it and now you will seek for the dagger rather than the experience. That is the danger of using words.

To me those are just words.
Words aren't cutting it .. now
Need action to be inaction
Need the sun to go down and the awareness to come up
Need the days to slow down and life to be a dream
Wait who was asking the question
Damn, can't remember the day when I was ...

vertical line No wait. Don't go. You need time control, you need to understand you're one of the Normals, that you're a part of the conspiracy, that you're one of its dupes, that your kind will not triumph, you need to know that you're a fiction with a need to know instant answers to abso cluckin lutely everything, you need to know that you are not strange and it is your inalienable right to know that you really do not need to appropriate any more words and phrases for your very own. And hey yeah but no, nonny abracadabra casts out the False Prophets without fail, every single time. Try it out in the comfort of your own syle-of-the-month-club-barbarism.

vertical line I had hoped that this opening post would inspire anyone who seeks to be awakened
That means to help anyone sit and practice
To find the answers they are looking for
I know it has given me an insight and the courage to put out an honest effort
Thanks for listening.
