Bhikkhus, what is ignorance?
Not knowing suffering,
Not knowing the origin of suffering,
Not knowing the cessation of suffering,
Not knowing the path leading to... continue...

→→→→ vertical line TOPIC: A PEACEFUL LIFE
vertical line Posted on Aug.28.2012 @ 04:12AM EDT by Dalai Lama
Although we are all the same in not wanting problems and wanting a peaceful life, we tend to create a lot of problems for ourselves. Encountering those problems, anger develops and overwhelms our mind, which leads to violence. A good way to counter this and to work for a more peaceful world is to develop concern for others. Then our anger, jealousy and other destructive emotions will naturally weaken and diminish.

vertical line I just bought a mala online. I tend to like giving local businesses my money before resorting to the internet. Otherwise if I can't find it in town then funny enough I have access to the world. :)

A mala is nice, helpful in being more forgiving I think. Forgiving in mind, body and word. And also for peace and mindfulness throughout a day. Its a symbol too, but I'm not all too much into symbolism. Although I did just buy a Buddha statue carved out in cement and painted. That was from a local guy.

My mind's lamp is always on. Situation or circumstance or condition, the more I look at it, are not the primary factors in the interior of a peaceful life.

vertical line I have a simple concern for others. Myself as an other, for one, and family not just mine but the ones who are near and far yet close, for true and best.

vertical line You can have no concern for others if you don't first have concern for yourself. Just take care of yourself, and pay attention. Then you'll find that you naturally have concern for others and watch peace arise on it's own, with no misplaced effort.

vertical line Someone else once said it like, "If you want to find love, you must first love yourself."

It's true. Love yourselves, guys. You deserve it. :-)

Not so much. A full abdomen is a just a full abdomen, and has as much or as little to do with peace and turmoil as the rain falling from the sky.

Buddha  put people into four parts
one .. those who care for others and themselves
two .. those who care only for others and not for themselves
three .. those who care not for other but only for them selves
four ... those who care not for others and not for themselves

It is only in the first one that people can actually benefit others in the world.
