Im almost 60.  I have to pull some slick moves in a matter of seconds or it will be too late.  Im not swapping punches.  I will do what I have to do as fast as I can, come what may.

Im usually underestimated.  By the time they figure out I can be dangerous its too late.

Its usually my instinct to go for the throat.  I find that once you have a firm grip on their windpipe, and give them a choice between fighting and breathing, they pick breathing.  One guy told me to go ahead and kill him, but of course I didnt.  I just let him go and walked away. 

I saw a guy in a bar working a girl over pretty good.  He had her in a headlock.  Her feet were coming up off the floor about a foot as he jerked her around.

I ran over and pulled her loose.  She ran out the door and down the street.  Then I was standing there looking at a large angry fellow.  So I reached out and grabbed his windpipe, then waited for the bouncers to come and throw him out.

When the bouncers got there it turned out he was a bouncer and they threw me out.

Some of the girls friends came back to the bar and kicked his ass.  That didnt do me any good, I couldnt get back in, and I was there with a date too. 

The girl and I fizzled out.  But she did invite me to go out with her and her friends when they came to town.  I think she wanted a bodyguard for them.  But it was fun, so I went.

Sometimes life is just, interesting.

The girl I was on a date with was a big lesson for me, never to go out with people you work with.  We worked in the same office, and at first I saw our mutual attraction, and that we had both just ended relationships with other people, but I wasnt going to act on it.  Then she asked me out and I thought that would make it okay.  No, not at all.

We were on again off again for some time.  She would become disinterested, then I would become disinterested, and then she would start it up again.  Finally I decided to drop it for good, which was not easy when she proposed that we take a train trip together, which would have been fun.  But I declined and suggested she ask someone else that I knew she had been dating.  After that we were just friends.

When her girlfriends would come to visit DC from Florida, they would take me out with them.  They seemed to think I was with her, but I was just there by myself.  She like to bake and always brought cookies and cakes to work.  That was nice.  When I moved to another office she brought me some cookies there too.  She was a very nice girl.

But I had to work in the same office with someone I had broken up with for over a year, and that was not always comfortable when other guys came around.  What really broke us up was that I declined to quit smoking, which was really a big thing to her, *If you really loved me..., etc.*  I suppose if I had it to do over again Id quit smoking.  But if I had it to do over again, I wouldnt have divorced my second wife and would not have been available in the first place.

I did finally quit, 15 years ago.  And it took me 3 years to do it.  I kept falling off the horse and getting back on again.

I think you have to really want to.

But I do have a system.  Start with a pack a day, 20 cigs.  Then each month smoke one less cig each day until they are gone.  So the second month you get 19 a day, and then the third month you get 18 a day, etc.

i did find that the slower you quit the easier it is, and the more lasting the cure.  I usually don't have any cravings to smoke.  The only time I have even considered it has been when smoking pot, which I dont do anymore either.

Ive always looked forward to retiring to a warmer and dryer climate, like the desert SW of Arizona or Nevada.  Probably Nevada since prostitution is legal there. 

Im not too old to chase women, just to old to catch them.  Im also old enough to know that there is no free sex.  Sooner or later, one way or another, you pay.

But Im finding I cant take the heat.  I used to think over 90 was hot, then over 80, and now over 70 is too hot for me.  So I better just stay put in the pacific northwest where it is warm in the winter (40s) and cool in the summer (70s).
