Today on the bus i saw something which interested me conserning helping.
I saw two students (high school) waiting on a traffic island and as the bus i was on turned the corner there were one large group of students crossing the road.after the large group crossed One of the two friends began to cross in front of the bus, his friend noticed and casually as you like he instantly reached out and grabbed his mates backpack and pulled him physically back to the safety of the traffic island. His friend looked at his mate (who hafd just helped him and he gave him a friendly shove which was returned and both boys laughe34d and continued the conversation they wefre having. The whole incident lasted 3 seconds! and i know that the one that helped his mate just reacted out of instinct to ensure the safety of his friend, there was no ego teaching here. Just one human assisting another (in reality one helping one).
There was not enough time before or after for an indepth assessment of the reasons for assistance it was just the right thing to do at the time. Is it important whether the helping boy was right? is it important if the other boy was wrong? only Death could tell.

In my current understanding of Buddhism NOTHING we can do to help others except for our ownself .........the boy is avoiding his own regret if he fail to help his mate when he is in possition and able to help .......

This instantaneous response reminded me a story of my life. I was speaking with my good friend. She was upset, so I was comforting her. Then she said "I don't know what awaits me tomorrow" and I responded instantly "Thursday". She smiled and called me stupid. She wasn't sad anymore. :) And all I did was telling the truth. |

Ok, timeout Joe! I`ve just surveyed some old posting and realized, this work is not going anywhere!
Years of posting and not a single success story! How many have gotten enlightened in this forum I ask? Huh?
How many renowned great masters has this forum fostered?? None!! The shocking truth is not a single damn one!
Come an people, you are not trying!
I think we have to become more effective, utilizing all resources, work as a team, get organized.
Things must change, I suggest like Shayne can be responsible for the exorcist/resurrection section, and hmmm, lemme se, Starduster can handle all the delicat tecnicaleties of proper meditation, something that is a rather comprehensible subject so better get esoteric to help him, Lemme see, who else posts here, ah, avisitor can, hmmm, can,.. handle finances! And deliver cool-aid while Joe can nag and now I`m not funny anymore and really should be off to bed, night zzz zzz:) |
