When Gensha Shibi, a Chinese Zen master, and a general
were eating cakes together,
the general asked:
- What is it that's used everyday but not known?
The master handed a piece of cake to the general and said:
- Eat this...
You can lift a dogs ear and say "dogs ear". It would be painful to seperate the dog ear from dog only to quantify it without the rest of the dog. Spiritual experience is part of mundane experience, they amplify one another. Dualism generates these frame of reference which cloud multiple reference points. This is just a metaphor, just one frame of refrence attempting to recognise others.
