You have to be well rested (and healthy) to practice zazen. It will be impossible to sit zazen if you are hungry, tired or feel severe pains. Isn't it so?

Whatever mind you sit with is the mind you meditate with. There is no attempt to cultivate ideal circumstance. |

I sit with the sick and dying to bring rest with hands reaching out, in trying to ease and please. |

they sit and cry as I look into their eyes and see family way way back... the dog just turned and looked up at me laying on his mattress next to the sliding door... we all hear in silence the same sound of one hand clapping, reaching out, into infinity, the forgotten unknown past in present one |

When we need to go to the store for supplies (food), do we wait for the perfect conditions? Wait, it is too cold. Lets wait until spring ... hahaha Wait, it is raining. I don't need to eat today ... hahaha
We are the human conditon ... we do what we need to do. Sit and practice if that is what you're needing Do something else if that is what you're needing But, if you need to sit then sit. Don't wait for condition to be perfect They never will be .... hahaha

When you know, conditions are never perfect.
When you don't know, conditions are always perfect.
