But how come most people insists on thinking and continue thinking?
Isn't that kinda stupid?

because you still talking , still have desire to talk , still have desire to write ...that is why you need to think ...if you have no more desire even the desire to exist , you will be in emptiness ...thats Buddhism .
So think as your wish , as all will be part of your process towards emptiness .

As I have said before, stop thinking isn't the right way.
We are working on attention and concentration
Making our awareness clear, sharp, focused .....
Becoming more aware of the present moment ...
And in this way, our minds naturally calm down and become silent.
And in that silence comes the equanimity we seek
Stopping thought will only force one to be lost in silence.
That is why the instruction for beginners is to let go of thought
To not chase it nor suppress thought.
Just return to breathe when one finds one is not on breathe.
I know this is a subtle difference to you
But, it makes all the difference.

Why are you making it so complicated? When you are able to return to breathe when you are thinking that means you were able to stop thinking.. otherwise you cannot return to breathe.
It is either you are thinking for you return to breathe.
When the mind is silent that means it is not thinking.
When you understands the nature of thoughts that they are only at best abstractions of the truth and never the truth, thoughts will no longer arise. If ever they will arise it may be just very rare.

Normal everyday life requires thought.
Working for a living rquires thought
You make it out like stop thinking will bring the solution to your whole life.
It doesn't. You still live in this world.
You still need to work and pay bills.
You still have emotions.
Even though you live in the here and now, there is a future to think about ...hahaha

Cuz over 90% of people need to work to pay for their cost of living expenses.
If you are so lucky to not have to work then what is it that you do all day ... hahaha
Drive? and take care of family concerns?

Sorry, have to go with avisitor for the time being. Back in army green, for some miraculous reason I`ve managed to get the title of "potato" once again, meaning that I am free, free to do whatever I mean suit my troop the best, it means a lot of thinking. Like what to do when and if I am to instruct road control, what to do and instruct if I am to lead at the shooting range tomorrow. I am not picky, just give me a hard nut to crack and I am on it, put me into some static position with well-defined responsibilities and chores, and I am outta here tomorrow. |

You should think on technical things but don't think on non-technical things. Non-technical things are what should zen forums are concerned for. That is why I say don't think. If it concerns Zen don't think...lol |
