  Ching Ch'ing, a Chinese Ch'an master, asked a monk:
-What is the sound outside?
The monk answered:
-That is the sound of rain.
The master said:
-Sentient beings are upside down, they lose themselves in pursuit of things.

→→→→ vertical line TOPIC: SLEEP ON
vertical line Posted on May.10.2013 @ 09:24AM EDT by cinchona
You who are not kept anxiously awake for love's sake, sleep on.
In restless search for that river, we hurry along;
you whose heart such anxiety has not disturbed, sleep on.
Love's place is out beyond the many separate sects;
since you love choosing and excluding, sleep on.
Love's dawn cup is our sunrise, his dusk our supper;
you whose longing is for sweets and whose passion is for supper, sleep on.
In search of the philosopher's stone, we are melting like copper;
you whose philosopher's stone is cushion and pillow, sleep on.
I have abandoned hope for my brain and head; you who wish for
a clear head and fresh brain, sleep on.
I have torn speech like a tattered robe and let words go;
you who are still dressed in your clothes, sleep on.

vertical line When I get tired, I sleep. When I wake up, I wake up.

When I'm awake, stuff happens.

I don't know what happens when I'm asleep because I'm asleep.

vertical line birds don't belong in a cage.
but i can hear them all around me.
king parrots out my kitchen window feeding on the seeds in the trees, i can almost touch them. kookuburra laughing on the clothes line, chooks roam free on the ground, with minimal effort they give me eggs,
3 kinds of honey suckers in the bottlebrush, other birds call out too,
but that magpie sure is the king of the whistle.

I love birds.

vertical line Reading your words makes me happy. I have a brilliant imagination, but sometimes it needs that kind of help.

I love words. And birds.

vertical line i love the sound of Magpie gargle, and the squark of the fledglings.

my uncle had three generations who would visit regularly,
it all began because he wanted to stop the nesting time aggression, so he began to feed them, worked a treat.

also had a Wedgetail Eagle nest down the back, Black Swans on the waterhole

yesterday i walked along the beach path and heard Black Cockies talking as they ate beach almonds, one in the tree and two on the ground (looks like rain i thought) i sat and watched and listened to the beautiful soft talk,

at night i listen to the sound of Kurlews lamenting  departing souls, synonymous of home.

Often i watch the Willy Wagtails gossip, and the Miners remind me of feathered Dinosaurs as they hop.

be careful the Azure Kookaburras don't notice your chips.

it did rain, as it always does when the Cockies announce it.

vertical line This morning:

one cockie perched at the tip of a palm tree,
its scream pierced the air
another replies from the distance
what a time they have up there.

vertical line I heard birds singing in the trees all day today. I can't name the birds or the trees.

There were t-shirts with owls on them.

People smiled at me, and many told me they liked my shirt. It doesn't have any birds on it. It just says "I REJECT YOUR REALITY AND SUBSTITUTE MY OWN. - Mythbusters"
