One day a girl in geisha house hailed the Japanese Zen master Mokudo by name.
He went inside and discovered that the girl was a childhood acquaintance.
The crops had failed one year in their village, and she had become a courtesan... continue...

→→→→ vertical line TOPIC: THE MAIN PURPOSE OF ZAZEN
vertical line Posted on Sep.25.2013 @ 12:47AM EDT by leoj99
I think people in Zen Forums are always missing the main purpose of Zazen which is Taming the Ego. Why because if  you say some words that they don't like they got irritated. They think that their words are being attacked and they get mad and they call you a troll so that they have reason to ban you....LOL

The main purpose of Zazen is to tame the Ego. Stress reduction is just one of the bonus of sitting zazen. If  your Ego is tame then you  have peace of mind and the thoughts automatically settle down or never to arise again while sitting in zazen...LOL

.........

Well they even log their meditation hours like flying hours for pilots...lol..
Some of them have logged thousands of meditation hours but I think they still get easily irritated and they are becoming old...lol

I was wondering if their meditations hours are just for show...lol

vertical line Once the Ego is tamed it is calm. No more thoughts will arise unnessarily during zazen or even in daily activities because it knows exactly when to think - when thinking is needed it thinks when it is not needed it does not think.

vertical line In this forum I think those who were irritated are gone. Mostly who are here are those irritated but I think they can handle it and now getting the feel.

The mod here is somewhat more level headed and seems to understand what is being said...
