To cling to onself as Buddha, oneself as Ch'an or the way,
making that an understanding, is called clinging to the inward view.

Attainment by causes and conditions, practice and realization,
making this an understanding,... continue...

If You Think You are out of Touch with What Is. So thats it. If  you are always thinking you never touch what is. So your life is just a fantasy. That is why I always say to people to stop thinking..lol
But they react so violently..lol

vertical line Essentially what you say is true. However the non-ego is not uncovered by actively suppressing thought. The conceptual mind does occlude what is and it would seem logical to simply say, "stop thinking". If you were to take up something like tea ceremony it would initially seem pointless. Yet, what occurs is that mind and body take the same shape. Intention and action become one, thinking falls away. Yet it is not through suppression. When the first thought arises in this natural state, it is by free will and not by automated reaction. Eventually a stream of thought can take you for a ride, do not chastise yourself for this, simply re-merge body and mind. Insight occurs when you become aware of being dragged or hooked, at this moment, you simply let it go. This is a gentle process. My study of Zen has led me to Dzogchen and Mahamudra. Leoj, you have in essence been correct about the mind of no mind. However the vehicles of uncovering this are varied and effective depending on ones specific attachments. If yo tell yourself "no thinking" and this works for you, then this is fine. However this does not work for everyone. I wish you well.
