One day Yao-shan Wei-yen (750-834), one of the well-known Chinese Ch'an master, was asked by the host of the monastery to give his sermon to the assembly who for a long while was expecting his teaching. Yao-shan said: "Strike the bell."
How can we understand our best? If, you are here, then what matters if you're at your best or not? Isn't being here, body and mind together the best you can be? Isn't being here, body and mind together standard? So, where are we all getting lost? In thought? In duty? In distractions? In affairs of the world? Can you see with your eyes, hear with your ears, smell with your nose, taste with your tongue, touch with your body, feel with your mind?
