One day, Chang-sha Ching-tsen (d. 868), one of the well-known Chinese Ch'an masters, wandered in the mountain. When he was back just at the gate of the temple, the head monk asked him:
-Where have you been, Sir?

God and Satan... does both exists?
The Christians believe that God and Satan exists.. and very real to them...
The Atheists does not believe in God so I guess they don't believe Satan exists too...
So it is the battle of believers and non-believers.
Zen does not believe and does not .. not believe... believing and not believing is not Zen...
Many years ago one student in our sangha asked one of our Roshi if there is God. And the answer was: "IT IS FOOLISH TO SAY THERE IS NO GOD." By then I thought Zen does not believe in God. It took me sometime to figure out what he really mean by that answer.
If there is no God how come there is always love in this world?
If there is no Satan that tempts you all the time how come there is always suffering and conflicts in this world?
Religions are always teaching about God and Satan.. what does each does to us.. Yet how come in spite of all these teachings the suffering and conflicts persists. Even wars happens everywhere...
To even recognize god(s) or an evil force is pointless.
Take a moment to believe in them, then take a moment to believe they're just figments of an ancient people's imagination. Notice how believing makes no difference except in one's interpretation of worldly events. The belief in god(s) and/or other spiritual beings is merely a filter for the mind's eye. It matters not whether they exists, as existence will continue with its path regardless.
Suffering exists because of desire. (War exists because of a desire for resources and power)
Love exists because we feel empathy.

I've been doing the family tree and it turns out none of us are related.
