vertical line Let [Thus] be unknown, yet not mysterious. I am with you, always. Beyond the notion of birth and death. Alive like breathing. Breath is forever in the present moment. Breathe, and listen to the sounds. Breathe, and smell the scents. Breathe, and taste the flavors. Breathe, and feel the touch. Breathe, and see the sights. Breathe, and mind the thoughts. Don't miss the present moment. Only this moment is Life. Love every moment of it!

vertical line My practice has been a balance of sitting and studying meditation philosophy. It has also been a difficult complex of psychological understanding and acceptance of suffering. It's been spent in time of relative solitude and internet browsing. And also a medication regimen and everyday routine. It has been a struggle with loneliness and depression with happiness and joy. My practice has been solely in the service of myself and my family and friends of the family. I've been taking care of the inner war inside myself but have not quite succeeded and have been left by myself to dwell my thoughts. I've been living very simple. I've not had a job and receive disability funds and food stamps. I can't seem to generate friends of my own circle. I can't put myself in the position of leaving my living situation, right not. I've struggled over the fact that the ones closes to me find it easy enough to go out and be social when I am stuck in the house or taking walks by myself. The days become extremely repetitive and mundane. I haven't found the courage to seek relationship or love because of my lack of initiative and charisma. I have seen years pass before my eyes with nothing to show for myself. My family is tight but I've never been able to break away and do my own thing. I've dwelled in myself, and enjoyed the occasional outing but as been alive for half a century and comparing my life to other my life seems very null.

vertical line I don't know what I want in life. I don't know if there is a purpose driving me or its just me wondering aimlessly. I don't seek what the average 25 year old does. In the end, it all falls on love. But I am not in accordance to love. There is nothing wrong with me, there is nothing right with me. As an individual I am much more aware than the next person but there is no possible way of me expressing my awareness because awareness simply is.

I hope that my awareness takes me through life, but there are no promises. I accept the negative and try to stay positive.

Sometimes there is nothing to explain, sometimes there's nothing to live for. That is my meditation. When there is nothing to live for, that is meditation. Meditation practice is nothing to live for, just to live is enough. Eat, sleep, be, and do what it takes to fill the void. Or simply become the void itself and forget everything else. Nothing matters to me. I don't care for others as others care for themselves. Meditation has nothing to do with it. Meditation is just a route to the pathless path and once you're on you have nothing going for yourself but silent watching. Nobody gives a fvck.

vertical line I saw a bumper sticker that read "compassion is the revolution"

I could care less about compassion and experience nirvana for oneself. That's how I feel about this day in age. My gut feeling says that is true for me. Call it selfish, call whatever you want. I don't think compassion and love are the golden rule. Fend for yourself, accept the things that come, let go of the things that go. It is what it is. Don't think about it. Just forget about it and fall awake.

I understand the feelings you are going through. I have had the same things. Of seeing years go by with no friends and family who just don't seem to care. But, in the end it was me who had to pull myself out. Go and do something for myself. Yeah, it means putting yourself out there to be ridiculed and laughed at. But, those are a small price to pay for the richness in company and life that isn't by yourself.

If you haven't tried then you should go seek a Zen center. Meet with people there. Remember peoples names and when you see them, call out their names. Nothing but say hello if that is all you can think of. Ask about their lives and soon they will ask about yours.
Look for common interest too.

I am sorry I can't do those things for you. I can't come over to your house and talk. Take you out to meet people. It isn't within my means. I can only say that you have to do it. Suggestions like going to the supermarket and talking to people. or maybe the library. If you go to school then being friendly will certainly lead to a few friends. Don't waste time on the computer and internet. People don't make too many friends playing video games alone.

As for practice, Zen center. Meet people. Ask questions about them or how they handle stuff. Pretending to be less practiced, you can ask for people's advice and more times than not they want to help.

Nah, Japanese culture isn't my forte. If anything at all, I'd rent a space, lay down a few meditation cushions, no buddhas, no scriptures. Teach the basic meditation technique to others. And send them off with a meditation practice. I truly like the zazen style of meditation and believe it is the simplest form of the art, and most reliable. But otherwise, because I don't have the ambition or money to do that, I have ten zafu/zabutins sitting in storage right now, and possibly give them as a gift for someone who is interested in it. I just don't know if I want to be that guy. ;) But yes, it's fun to think about and I do have the understanding, not as a zen master, but as a meditation practitioner, to get people motived to meditate. Other than that, I don't have a plan. Like, I can do a stress management course, put together a structure for people based on how to suffer less from stress. Who knows? It's kind of open ended in where I can go with this... So

It was a suggestion to get out of the house and find a teacher.
But, you could start a class and that way meet people. If you show true interest in others then maybe you could develop some friendships.

What you teach isn't Zazen.
Zazen is much more than meditation.

vertical line A luster, hankering, craving, for anything creates dualism, opposites, enemies. Competition, comparison, envy creating circumstances that lead into problems, fights, and violence. Love, creates emotional imbalance, pain and suffering. Truth creates philosophy, science and art leading into obsession and oblivion. Facts create desires, prayers and thoughts driving craziness, emptiness, accidents. Attention creates delusion, consciousness, feeling leaving spirituality, detachment, destruction in its path. Reality creates subtitles, organizations, dreams following misery, conformity and death. That's why I practice.

What you put in is what you get out.
If you put in no effort then your efforts will result in nothing.
If you put in great effort then your efforts will result in greatness.
If you believe it so then it is such ... too much effort needed??
Then this will be your Karma.
The effect comes from the seed you have planted.

Ahem, cough, (bullsh!t), cough ...
Zen is mindfulness of life .. definitely not ordinary
Practice is reducing your self-importance through concentration and emptiness.
Then, if or when you're ready .. your awareness will reflect your true nature.

Fancy words and beautiful saying don't make it real!!
Or saying shocking stuff like, "Kill the Buddha" don't bring about understanding or enlightenment.
Bihkiihus, what is ignorance??

vertical line You have the chance to redeem yourself
choose now which it is that you want to do

Well, not every decision is the best one for you
But, you will live with your choice.

Separate the message from the person delivering the message.
Find the truth for yourself.
Instead of wit and witticism, look for wisdom and compassion.

vertical line The realm of exceptional people...
Zen people are not them,
But we're good, just not that good.
We'll be real with you,
However when it comes down to it we're going to act human,
No way around it.

What an ego you have!!
Who would ban you and for what reason??
Why would you be the center of attention??

The more important thing is have you begun to do any practice today??
When you do, you begin to help yourself and those around you.

vertical line The emptiness of consciousness,
Being is only bone and flesh.
In imagination there are 10,000 things,
In reality there is no-thing.
Creative people find the middle,
Understanding things-in-themselves.
