Summary
From Publisher
Who knew the path to enlightenment could start with a cup of tea? Learn the hidden significance behind the deceptively simple Zen tea ceremony - one which can lead directly to Buddhahood and its absolute truth. D.T. Suzuki, once Japan's leading authority on Zen Buddhism, describes the tearoom and the tea ceremony and explains the guiding principles of harmony, reverence, purity, and tranquility. Explore with him the essential concepts of wabi and sabi, which lead to the subjective and objective appreciation of poverty and imperfection which are so vital to establishing a Zen mindset. Zen and the Art of Tea is part of a series of programs taken from Suzuki's Zen and Japanese Culture.

Summary
SYNOPSIS
The subject of Bible versions can get very controversial among Christians, with sometimes rather heated feelings on all sides. There are those who say the King James Version is the only reliable version and that all other versions are "perversions." Then there are others who say it doesn't matter which Bible versions one uses, that they are all reliable in their own right. This book takes a middle approach. It disagrees with the KJV-only advocates in recognizing there are some modern Bible versions that are just as, if not more reliable than the KJV. But this book also recognizes that there are significant differences between Bible versions and that not all versions are reliable.
Specifically, this book has three main standards when it comes to Bible versions:
The Hebrew and Greek texts should be translated as word for word as possible.
The translation should be as readable as possible, but without sacrificing accuracy.
The NT should be translated from the Textus Receptus or Majority Greek Text, rather than the more popular Critical Text....
So if you find yourself caught in the middle of the Bible versions controversy, not sure which Bible version to use or why, or you simply want to understand the reasons for the differences between Bible versions, then this book is for you!

Summary
FROM THE PUBLISHER
The Analytical-Literal Translation of the New Testament of the Holy Bible is different from any other version of the Bible. What makes it unique is the "Analytical-Literal Translation" (ALT) enables the reader to come closer to what the New Testament writers originally wrote in a far greater way than any other version. It does so be providing four unique features:
1. The ALT is a very literal translation of the Greek New Testament. All words in the original text are translated-nothing is omitted.
2. The grammar of the Greek text is translated in a way that brings out "nuances" of the original text.
3. The ALT is based on the newest and most accurate Greek text, the Byzantine Majority Text. This Greek text is the most exact reproduction of the original manuscripts possible.
4. The ALT includes aids in brackets within the text that help the reader to better understand the text. These include:
* Alternative translations for words and phrases.
* The figurative meanings of words and phrases.
* Modern-day equivalents for measurement and monetary units and time designations.
* Explanatory notes.
Now a few available versions might provide one or two of the above features. But no version incorporates three of these features, let alone all four. And with all of these features, the ALT is truly the ideal version for the serious student of the Bible.

Summary
When they talk of the Bible as literature, they mean the KJV, May 7, 2005
Reviewer: Lawrance M. Bernabo "From his tongue flowed reviews sweeter than honey" (The Zenith City: Duluth, MN United States)
The King James Version of the Bible (a.k.a. the Authorized Version) is an English translation of the Bible published in 1611. Commissioned by King James I of England, 54 scholars were approved by the king of whom 47 labored in six groups at three locations for seven years making use of both texts in the original languages and previous English translations. The result was a translation that had a marked influence on English style and literature because of its flowing language and prose rhythm, and was generally accepted as the standard English Bible for more than three centuries.

The New Revised Standard Version is the most modern, accurate, and accessible Bible translation available today, and has been accepted by almost all major US denominations. Prepared by a multidenominational committee of scholars who based their revision on the original Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic texts, the NRSV is fast becoming the new standard for both public and private devotion in churches and homes across America. As well, the NRSV is the most advanced translation in its sensitivity to inclusive language. The translation also includes the most complete collection of Apocryphal/Deuterocanonical books.
